BRIEF: Strawdog is losing its longtime theater space

July 06--Strawdog Theatre Company says it will be leaving its longtime home at 3829 N. Broadway in June 2016 and is looking for a new home.

The second-floor walk-up on Chicago's North Side has been the venerable and resilient off-Loop company's residence for a quarter of century. But plans have been announced for redevelopment of its gentrified block (reportedly as retail stores with condominiums and apartments above them). Strawdog has lost its longtime lease.

The company does not yet know where it is going. "We look forward to the potential of presenting out 30th season in a new permanent home" said artistic director Hank Boland. The last show in the space will be Strawdog's 110th show, a production of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's "Once in a Lifetime" slated for April 22 to June 4, 2016.
