BRIEF: Steve Carell was too intimidated to ask Harrison Ford for a selfie

Jan. 13--Even Steve Carell is intimidated by Harrison Ford.

On Tuesday's episode of "Conan," Carell recounted interacting with the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" star Sunday at the Golden Globes.

Carell, a Second alumnus, told Conan O'Brien he was seated at the awards show with his "The Big Short" co-stars Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Brad Pitt; Ford and his wife Calista Flockhart.

"You don't want to engage Harrison Ford in conversation because he's Harrison Ford. You don't want to bother Harrison Ford," Carell said. "I'm not going to ask Harrison Ford for a selfie."

Carell said Ford, who grew up in Park Ridge, talked to him a few times at the show but all Carell could do was mumble a response.

"Such an idiot," Carell said.

Carell was nominated for best performance by an actor in a motion picture (musical or comedy) for his role in "The Big Short" but "The Martian"'s Matt Damon took the award home.

"Conan" airs weeknights on TBS at 10 p.m.
