May 02--Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced Monday that a concert reading of the rock musical "Love Kills" has been added to the summer lineup of the multi-genre programming series "LookOut."

The new musical by Kyle Jarrow, the book writer of the upcoming "SpongeBob Musical," follows the infamous '50s teenage killer Charles "Charlie" Starkweather, who will be played by Patrick Rooney. Ensemble member Jeff Perry, who stars as Cyrus Beene on ABC's "Scandal," will play Sheriff Merle, with ensemble member Ora Jones as his wife, Gertrude. Kent Paul will direct, with musical direction by Matt Hinkley.

The performances (July 1-3) are set to take place in the new 80-seat 1700 Theatre, located at 1700 N. Halsted St.
