March 26--The Pittsburgh Steelers have had just three head coaches since 1969. The team still belongs to the family of the late Art Rooney, who founded it back in 1933.
In other words, it's an organization that doesn't seem to like change too much.
So it must come as a relief to Steelers Nation that the planned merger of the H.J. Heinz Co. and the Kraft Foods Group into the new Kraft Heinz company will have no effect on the name of the stadium the team has called home since 2001.
"It'll remain Heinz Field," Heinz senior vice president of corporate and government affairs Michael Mullen told reporters Thursday.
Heinz bought the naming rights back when the stadium opened in a 20-year, $57-million deal.
So rest easy, Steelers fans. That's at least another six years you won't have to deal with change, at least when it comes to the name of your hometown football stadium.
