July 28--Le'Veon Bell will miss only the first two games of the season after the NFL reduced his punishment under the league's policy for substance abuse.
Bell was handed a three-game suspension in April. He was charged with marijuana possession and DUI in August. He appealed that punishment.
As part of a program for first-time offenders, Bell is serving 15 months' probation and eventually could have his legal record cleared.
The lighter suspension is great news for Steelers fans. As a second-year player last year, Bell became a key part of the team's offense, rushing for 1,361 yards and eight touchdowns and catching 83 passes for 854 yards and three touchdowns.
During the off-season the Steelers signed former Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams, who likely will start in Bell's absence.
