BRIEF: Steelers, Ben Roethlisberger say there's a chance he could play this week

Nov. 10--Ben Roethlisberger has been said to have a mid-foot sprain that will cause him to miss a week or two of action -- but the folks saying that aren't the Steelers or their star quarterback.

Coach Mike Tomlin said during his news conference Tuesday morning that while the team is preparing backup quarterback Landry Jones to start Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, they are leaving the door "slightly ajar" for Roethlisberger.

Appearing on a Pittsburgh radio show Tuesday morning, Roethlisberger didn't sound like he had resigned himself to sideline duty just yet.

"I'm not even going to rule myself out this week," Roethlisberger said. "I'm going to take it one day at a time."

He went on to talk about how his foot, injured late in Sunday's 38-35 victory over Oakland, is feeling.

"I can walk on it," Roethlisberger said. "I'm not running around or anything but the smart thing to do, from what doc has told me and the trainers, is just to kinda keep ice on it and get the swelling out and just kind of rest it, let it heal."
