BRIEF: Argument downtown ends with shots fired on Bishop Ford Expressway

May 21--An argument that began in downtown Chicago erupted into gunfire on the Bishop Ford Expressway on the South Side early Thursday, wounding a man and shutting down all outbound lanes for nearly three hours.

Two men and a woman had gotten into an argument with someone else while downtown, and were then followed onto Interstate 94, Illinois State Police said.

As they reached the Stony Island ramp at 103rd Street, someone in the second car fired several shots and wounded one of the men in the first car, according to state police.

The car with the gunman sped off, and the other car headed for the South Chicago District police station. The wounded man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

I-57 northbound lanes leading into I-94 southbound lanes were closed until 8 a.m. so state police could canvass the area.

No other details were being released.
