BRIEF: State police: 1 dead in I-90 wreck near Elgin

July 18--A motorist who was killed during a collision with a semi-truck on the outbound Interstate 90 in Elgin has been identified, state police said.

Lavon Deangelo Woods, 23, of Beloit Wisc., died in the wreck, state police said.

A semi and a car crashed at 6:11 a.m. in the westbound lanes about a mile east of Randall Road, Illinois State Police Tollway District Sgt. John Dabrowski said.

Woods, who was driving a 2004 Buick Regal, was westbound when he lost control and crashed into the semi truck, which was parked on the right shoulder. No one else was hurt.

All lanes of traffic are open as of Saturday afternoon.

The right lane and shoulder were closed for about four hours during the investigation. Woods was wearing a seat belt during the crash, which remains under investigation.
