Aug. 20--Starlin Castro will start at second base for the fourth time Wednesday night as the Chicago Cubs attempt to snap a two-game losing streak against the Detroit Tigers at Wrigley Field. With the Tigers starting lefty Daniel Norris, Cubs manager Joe Maddon is going with the right-handed-hitting Castro at second instead of left-handed-hitting Chris Coghlan, a converted outfielder who has made seven starts at second in August.
Castro's start comes in the wake of multiple reports stating the Los Angeles Dodgers are close to finalizing a deal to acquire All-Star second baseman Chase Utley from the Philadelphia Phillies. The Cubs are one of the teams reportedly interested in the 36-year-old Utley, who bats left-handed. Since coming off the disabled list on August 7, Utley has 15 hits in 31 at bats for a .484 average.
As expected, David Ross will start at catcher with Jon Lester on the mound.
