May 13--StarChefs, the online restaurant-industry trends magazine, has named its 2015 Chicago Rising Star Awards, which go to "up-and-coming chefs and hospitality professionals."
Some of the winners are already well-known in Chicago and beyond. Among the names: Johnny Clark and Beverly Kim of Parachute; Abraham Conlon of Fat Rice, Harold Jurado of Yusho, Lee Wolen of Boka and Erling Wu-Bower of Nico Osteria.
Other honorees include pastry chefs Greg Mosko (NoMI Kitchen) and Anna Posey (The Publican), Gregory Laketek of West Loop Salumi, and bartenders Jacyara de Oliveira (Sportsman's Club) and Tyler Fry (The Violet Hour).
They, and other winners, will be honored at a gala event on June 8 at Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park Zoo. The ceremony will be followed by a a walk-around tasting of 20 restaurants, along with wine, beer and cocktails.
Tickets for the event are $115, or $160 for VIP admission (includes a private reception) and go on sale Wednesday.
