BRIEF: Star of Spanish-language show 'Larrymania' arrested at Ontario airport

Sept. 28--A Mexican regional singer who stars in a Spanish-language TV show was arrested at Ontario Airport on a warrant out of South Carolina, authorities said Monday.

Larry Hernandez, 38, was taken into custody on suspicion of kidnapping, assault and assault and battery causing injury, said Los Angeles airport police spokesman Rob Pendregon.

Hernandez had been scheduled to fly on Southwest Airlines from Ontario to Denver on Friday but was stopped and arrested at the gate, he said.

After Hernandez had booked his flight, police in Denver notified airport police in Southern California, Pendregon said.

La Opinion reported that Hernandez was accused of holding and beating a concert promoter in Newberry County in South Carolina in August over a financial dispute.

Hernandez is the star of TV network Mun2's popular show "Larrymania."
