BRIEF: St. Charles police seek help in search for missing girl

July 24--Police are seeking the public's help in locating a 14-year-old St. Charles girl who went missing after being dropped off for a dance class at the Pottawatomie Community Center, officials said.

Emily Czajkowski was dropped off for the dance class about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, police said in a news release. She never attended the class and couldn't be found in the immediate area.

Video surveillance shows her leaving the building while talking on her cellphone, police said. Emily soon after posted a message to her friends on social media that stated she intended to hurt herself by unknown means, but the message was quickly deleted.

Emily made no further contact with anyone after posting the message, police said. She was last spotted between 7 and 8 p.m. near West Main Street and South 14th Street.

Emily was last seen wearing a brightly colored shirt, brightly colored shorts and blue knee-high socks. She was carrying an oversized, furry snow leopard-patterned bag. She enjoys going to the movies and shopping, police said.

Those with information about Emily's whereabouts should call St. Charles police at 630-377-4435.
