Nov. 23--Sparrow, a cocktail lounge by the Footman Hospitality group (The Anthem, Bangers Lace, The Betty, The Bucktown Pub), makes its debut Monday at 4 p.m.
Located in an art deco apartment building in the Gold Coast neighborhood, Sparrow (12 W. Elm St.) takes its inspiration from the grand lobby bars of the 1930s and 1940s, featuring velvet upholstery and a wood and marble inlay bar. The cocktail menu emphasizes traditional rum drinks (think Prohibition-era Cuba, rather than Don the Beachcomber), the sizable wine list has plenty of sparklers and the rotating beer list focuses on seasonal craft beers.
