BRIEF: Sox avoid arbitration with Jeff Samardzija, Tyler Flowers

Jan. 16--The White Sox avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to terms with pitcher Jeff Samardzija and catcher Tyler Flowers.

Samardzija, who can become a free agent next winter, agreed to a one-year, $9.8 million contract, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

The Tribune confirmed Flowers will earn $2.675 million in 2015.
