Nov. 23--Five people were injured in shootings on the South and Southwest sides Saturday, including two 15-year-olds who were in good condition at hospitals, officials said.
A 15-year-old girl was shot in the buttocks and a 15-year-old boy in the left arm about 11:25 a.m. in the 6900 block of South Artesian Avenue in the Lithuanian Plaza neighborhood, said Chicago Police Department spokesman Jose Estrada.
The boy was taken in good condition to Holy Cross Hospital and the girl was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Estrada said.
Paramedics were called to a building in 2400 block of West Lithuanian Plaza Court, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
At 1:20 p.m., two women were shot in the 6900 block of South Justine Street in the Englewood neighborhood in what may have been a domestic-related incident, police said.
A 58-year-old woman was shot in her right hand and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition. A 26-year-old woman was shot in her back and shoulder and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition.
Police initially said a male and female were shot but they later updated the information.
At 8:02 p.m. on the 1200 block of South Independence Boulevard a 16-year-old boy was shot in the chin and managed to get himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
The boy was standing on a sidewalk with another male when an attacker walked up and fired shots, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
The boy was in critical but stable condition after the Lawndale neighborhood shooting, police said.
