March 22--A man who robbed a West Englewood bank Monday afternoon is suspected in three other bank robberies in the last two weeks, from Rogers Park to Carol Stream, authorities said.
The man robbed the Guaranty Bank branch, 7030 S. Ashland Ave., after robbing the three other banks starting March 8, according to the FBI's BanditTrackerChicago website.
The robbery took place about 3:20 p.m. when a man walked into the bank and approached a teller, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago police spokesman. The man demanded cash, implied he had a weapon, took money from the teller, then fled.
The same man is believed to have robbed:
--A Citibank branch, 2801 W. Devon Ave., about 12:15 p.m. March 12
--Another Guaranty Bank, 4620 S. Damen Ave., on about 6:35 p.m. March 10
--A West Suburban Bank, 1380 Army Trail Road in Carol Stream, about 3:15 p.m. March 8
The man is described as black, in his early- to mid-30s, with a medium build and about 185 pounds. He's bald and has tattoos on both forearms. In Monday's robbery, a surveillance photo showed him wearing a gray stocking cap with a White Sox logo and a dark shirt or pullover with light-colored buttons, a breast pocket and epaulets.
