BRIEF: South Side man shot at driver trying to tow his vehicle, prosecutors say

Feb. 23--A Gresham man was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail Sunday after prosecutors said he shot at a tow truck driver trying to tow his vehicle.

Roderick Myers, 24, was charged with felony aggravated discharge of a firearm in the incident, which took place early Saturday in the 8100 block of South Ashland Avenue, according to court records.

Myers had illegally parked his vehicle in a restaurant parking lot about half a block from his residence, said Assistant State's Attorney Andres Almendarez.

When a tow truck arrived to take his vehicle, Myers shot at the truck several times, hitting it but missing the 43-year-old driver, Almendarez said.

Myers then fled back to his residence, Almendarez said.

The tow truck driver contacted police, who ran Myers' license plate and realized he lived close by, Almendarez said.

Myers was arrested 15 to 20 minutes after the incident, according to court records and Almendarez.
