BRIEF: South Side comedian Deon Cole said he's had golf balls thrown at him

Jan. 13--"Angie Tribeca" star Deon Cole recalled being pelted with golf balls, Pringles cans and coat hangers while performing at a Ja Rule rap concert in Indianapolis.

"Who brings a coat hanger to a rap concert?," Cole, 44, reminisced Tuesday on "The Real" when he was asked about his worst stage bomb.

Cole, who hails from the South Side, said he got into performing because a friend bet him $50 to do stand-up. He's worked as a writer for Conan O'Brien on "The Tonight Show" and "Conan" and had a recurring role on ABC's "Black-ish."

"The Real" airs weekdays on Fox at 11 a.m.

"Angie Tribeca," a police comedy starring Rashida Jones, is scheduled to premiere Sunday on TBS at 8 p.m. with a 25-hour marathon. Cole is set to host segments between episodes.
