June 27--Homicide detectives are looking into a possible connection Saturday morning between a man killed in a roll-over crash in South El Monte and a person who turned up at a local hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responding to the accident just before 10 p.m. Friday on an onramp to the 60 Freeway near Rosemead Boulevard discovered the dead man and two firearms, Deputy Sara Rodriguez said.
At the same time, deputies from the Pico Rivera station were at a hospital gathering information about a shooting victim, Rodriguez said.
"Detectives are investigating reports that the occupants in the vehicle may have been involved in some type of altercation with the gunshot victim from the hospital," according to a department news release.
The department declined to release further information about either victim. Detectives were examining the vehicle, which remained overturned in a grass median, Saturday morning.
