BRIEF: Source: Olympia Fields to be awarded women's major in 2017

Aug. 12--Those craving championship golf in Chicago will want to keep tabs on an announcement by the PGA of America at 11 a.m.

The 2017 KPMG women's PGA Championship will be played at Olympia Fields, the Tribune has learned.

A source also revealed that Kemper Lakes will host the 2018 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, giving the Chicago area an interesting 1-2 punch.

PGA President Derek Sprague, CEO Pete Bevacqua and Chief Championship Officer Kerry Haigh will make the announcement at Whistling Straits, site of this week's PGA Championship.

If the 2017 KPMG women's PGA Championship is a success, it could lead to a senior major and PGA Championship being played at Olympia Fields.
