BRIEF: Source: No NHL discipline for Blackhawks' Andrew Shaw

Dec. 16--According to a source, Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw will not face supplemental discipline from the NHL's Department of Player Safety for his hit on the Colorado Avalanche's Francois Beauchemin during Tuesday night's game at the United Center.

Late in the Avs' 3-0 victory, Shaw checked Beauchemin into the boards just as the Avs defenseman advanced the puck. Shaw went helmet-to-helmet with Beauchemin, who fell to the ice before eventually heading to the dressing room. Shaw was assessed a two-minute charging penalty and Beauchemin did not return to the game.

The league determined that Shaw, who has one suspension during his career, accidentally made head-on-head contact as he was trying to spin off the hit. The source did say it was "certainly a close one" as far as determining if Shaw would be disciplined.
