BRIEF: Sondheim will receive Sandburg Award

March 30--Stephen Sondheim will receive the Carl Sandburg Literary Award this year, a spokesman for the Chicago Public Library said on Monday.

This is the 16th Carl Sandburg Award, given out annually by the Chicago Public Library Foundation. Sondheim, composer-lyricist of "Sweeney Todd," "Sunday In The Park With George," "Into The Woods" and more, will be present at the ceremony to receive the honor.

Sondheim, who turned 85 last week, will be interviewed onstage by NPR's Scott Simon at the dinner, which is set for Oct. 21 at the Forum on the Campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago.
