BRIEF: Soldier Field installing new video screens

May 12--Soldier Field has begun installing two new high-definition video screens at the stadium, and work should be completed before the Bears play their first 2015 preseason game.

The larger, brighter screens replaced outdated video boards that have been in use since the stadium's 2003 renovation. Work on the new video screens, expected to have 2.7 times more surface area, began in April and is scheduled to be completed by early July, according to Luca Serra, director of sponsorship and media at Soldier Field.

The Chicago Park District board approved $7 million in financing for the video screens, along with new ribbon boards, video control room equipment and other construction. The Bears will cover the remaining costs of the estimated $20 million project.
