BRIEF: 'So You Think You Can Dance' holding Chicago audition for children

Feb. 05--"So You Think You Can Dance" is holding a Chicago audition next month for dancers ages 9-13.

For the first time, the Fox competition will feature child dancers paired with all-stars from the show competing for a prize, which is typically $250,000.

Cat Deeley returns as host for the 13th season with judges Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo. Tryouts are scheduled for March 11 at the Lou Conte Dance Studio, 1147 W. Jackson Blvd. Auditions are also slated to be held in Los Angeles and New York.

Dancers try out in front of the judges for a place at "The Academy." The top 10 dancers are partnered with an all-star and sent to the show's studio, where they compete each week in a variety of dance styles.

"So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation" is scheduled to premiere 7 p.m. May 30.
