Feb. 01--The Smashing Pumpkins announced Monday that the band will play 20 shows in the spring before recording a new album inspired by the acoustic performances.
As part of a sequel to last year's "In Plainsong" tour, the Pumpkins are scheduled to play an "acoustic-electro evening" 7:30 p.m. April 14 at the Civic Opera House. Longtime Chicago singer-songwriter Liz Phair is set to open as part of her first full U.S. tour in six years.
Reserved seats, which cost $49.50-$75, are slated to go on sale 11 a.m. Friday via Ticketmaster and the Civic Opera House box office.
The spring tour is scheduled to kick off March 22 in Portland, Ore., and wrap up April 20 in Houston.
The Smashing Pumpkins performed a few shows in June as part of its "In Plainsong" tour before playing more than a dozen venues with Marilyn Manson, including FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in August.
