BRIEF: Small fire in bathroom leads to Shedd Aquarium closure

Dec. 07--The Shedd Aquarium was closed Saturday afternoon after a small fire in a restroom prompted an evacuation, officials announced.

Shedd officials tweeted about 4:30 p.m. Saturday that the museum would be closed for the rest of the day. About 10 minutes earlier, they tweeted that the museum was "currently evacuated."

Chicago Fire Department officials said they were called to the Shedd at 3:41 after smoke was observed coming from a bathroom.

Firefighters using hand pump extinguishers were able to put out the fire, which was in a waste basket in the bathroom.

No injuries were reported.
