BRIEF: Skilling: This November one of wettest on record

Nov. 30--Satellite images late Sunday evening showed a swirling cloud mass moving across the southern Rockies.

This system is forecast to bring heavy snow to the Plains and upper Midwest, while flooding rains will continue from Texas across the Gulf states. Rain is expected across the Chicago area late Monday as moisture-laden southerly winds strengthen.

Current computer forecasts suggest one-quarter to half an inch of rain may fall by midnight Monday. In this case, November would rank among the wettest 10 percent of all Novembers since 1871.

As low pressure passes west of the area, an influx of mild air will bring rising temperatures through Monday night. Late-night readings are expected to reach the upper 40s across the area.
