April 07--Detectives released a composite sketch Thursday of a man wanted for allegedly assaulting two people with a hammer-type weapon in East Los Angeles.
The first assault happened March 25, when the suspect walked up to an elderly man in the 1400 block of South Bonnie Beach Place and struck him with the weapon, authorities said. When the victim fell to the ground, officials say, the suspect kicked him.
Only a few hours later, the suspect struck again -- attacking a woman in the 4400 block of Triggs Street, in front of a residence, officials said. He hit her "several times in the head" until she lost consciousness before fleeing, officials said.
The attacker is described as a 40- to 50-year-old man, about 6 feet tall and weighing between 200 and 240 pounds. He is believed to have fled in a 1990s dark-colored Toyota Tacoma. He wore a hat, sunglasses, a blue wind breaker, brown cargo shorts and white shoes.
Both victims were taken to hospitals and remain in serious condition. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at (323) 264-4151.
