BRIEF: Signal Ensemble announces 2015-16 season

April 08--Signal Ensemble Theatre announced its 2015-16 season on Wednesday. The season includes three plays, none of which have been seen on a Chicago stage before.

The first show is "Butcher" by Canadian playwright Nicolas Billon. In Billon's drama, a mysterious man is left on the steps of a police station with a note that says "arrest me." Bries Vannon will direct a cast featuring Vincent Lonergan, Simone Roos, Joseph Stearns and Andy Hager.

Then comes "The Consultant" by Heidi Schreck, whose "Grand Concourse" will be seen at Steppenwolf later this year. The play, which examines modern corporate culture, begins with office layoffs. It will star Ariel Begley, Courtney Jones, Joe McCauley, Maggie Cain and Ben Chang, and will be directed by Ronan Marra.

And last is "The Southern Women," a new play, adapted from Euripides' "The Trojan Women," by Aaron Snook, who also directs. The drama takes place in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War.

Signal Ensemble Theatre is located at 1802 W. Berenice Ave.
