BRIEF: Shots fired outside Inglewood bank during armored-truck holdup

April 24--An armored-truck driver fired nine shots at a thief who got away with two bags of cash Friday morning outside an Inglewood bank, police said.

No one was struck in the shooting, and police are searching for the suspect, Inglewood police Lt. Neal Cochran said.

Shots rang out about 8:47 a.m. after two armored-truck drivers found themselves being confronted by a man who demanded cash just outside the Wells Fargo Bank in the 400 block of South Market Street, he said.

The bank was expected to open its doors at 9 a.m.

One of the truck drivers shot nine rounds at the man, who returned fire, getting off a single round.

Amid the gunfire and holdup, the man grabbed two bags of cash and fled.

It was not immediately known how much cash was inside the bags, Cochran said, but police believe it was a large quantity.
