BRIEF: Gunman on bike fires at unmarked police car, no injuries reported

May 25--A gunman on a bike fired at an unmarked police car early Wednesday in the Arcadia Terrace neighborhood on the North Side, but no injuries were reported, authorities said.

Just before 12:30 a.m., two officers were in the unmarked car driving east on Peterson Avenue when they noticed someone on a bicycle yelling gang slogans, according to Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The officers tried to stop him but he got away. Shortly afterward, they saw him nearby in an alley in the 2700 block of West Peterson, Gaines said.

They followed him into the alley, at which point he pulled out a gun and fired several shots, hitting the police car, Gaines said.

The two officers in the car were not injured, police said. The shooter fled.
