Dec. 09--ShopHouse, a Southeast Asian food chain from Chipotle Mexican Grill, is now open in the Loop.
The 4-year-old ShopHouse concept opened its 13th location last month, in Schaumburg -- its first location in Illinois. The Loop location opened today at 24 E. Jackson Blvd.; it's the chain's first restaurant in Chicago.
ShopHouse features the same assembly-line service as Chipotle, with food inspired by Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. The simple menu consists of rice and noodle bowls and salads. There are four protein options: chicken satay, steak laab, pork and chicken meatballs and tofu. Vegetable choices include broccoli, charred corn, butternut squash and green beans. Customers can further customize their meals with a choice of four sauces, three garnishes and four topping options.
The menu is free of gluten, dairy and wheat. It's also composed mostly of non-GMO ingredients, like Chipotle.
