BRIEF: Semitrailer catches fire on I-80 near southwest suburbs

Jan. 08--A semitrailer caught on fire on Interstate 80 near southwest suburban Mokena early Thursday, causing temporary closure of several lanes, police said.

The semi's brakes caught fire around midnight while travelng eastbound on Interstate 80 west of South La Grange Road, said Illinois State Police Sgt. George Del Rio.

The driver of the truck was able to get out before the trailer went up in flames, Del Rio said. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

As of about 5 a.m., two eastbound lanes on Interstate 80 near La Grange Road were shut down temporarily as crews cleaned up after the incident.
