BRIEF: Second man charged in Orange Line train robbery in July

Nov. 07--A second man has been charged with robbing four people on a CTA Orange Line train this summer, authorities said.

Robert Weaver, 47, of the 5000 block of South May Street, has been charged with three felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm, according to Police News Affairs.

Police say Weaver and another man robbed the passengers on a train heading downtown from Midway Airport around 4:15 p.m. on July 16. The two men are accused of pistol-whipping a woman and stealing about $100 along with electronics and bank cards.

Weaver was ordered held without bail Thursday, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.

In late July, authorities charged Michael Taylor, 20, of the 700 block of North Waller Avenue, with four counts of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Taylor also is in Cook County Jail, being held without bail, according to the sheriff's office.
