May 31--The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events will again honor Chicago arts players and institutions at the Fifth Star Awards, now in its third year.
The 2016 awards will celebrate Grammy Award-winning blues musician Buddy Guy, Estee Lauder photographer Victor Skrebneski, Black Ensemble Theater founder Jackie Taylor, National Museum of Mexican Art founder Carlos Tortolero and Chicago's comedy mainstay The Second City.
The awards ceremony, presented by Allstate Insurance Company, will take place Sept. 14 at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.
The free public event will feature live performances and video tributes, which are to be announced at a later date.
