BRIEF: Season 2 of Emmy-winning 'Transparent' to premiere early

Nov. 30--The premiere of the second season of "Transparent," the Emmy-winning Amazon series that explores transgender issues, will be available Monday night -- nearly two weeks ahead of the season's scheduled release, series creator Jill Soloway confirmed Monday on Twitter.

Amazon Prime subscribers can watch the premiere episode starting at 7 p.m. Amazon is still scheduled to premiere the rest of the second season Dec. 11.

The series follows the Pffeferman family as Mort Pfefferman (played by Jeffrey Tambor) transitions to Maura Pfefferman. Soloway, a Chicago native and alumna of the Annoyance Theatre, based the series on her own experience of having a transgender parent.

"I think Season 1 was all about the revelation," Soloway told The New York Times recently about the evolution of the "Transparent" characters. "Who knows? Who is going to find out? What are they going to think? Now everyone knows. Someone who is trans once said that when a person transitions, the entire family has to transition. You were somebody in relation to the secret. Now the secret is gone, so each person becomes somebody new."
