April 28--Academy Award-winning actor Sean Penn has listed his retreat in Malibu for sale at $6.55 million.
The gated single-story ranch-style home, built in 1960, is laid out in a U-shape with courtyard space suited to entertaining. A detached guesthouse shares the 1.4-acre site.
Beyond the glass double-door entry of the main house are a formal entry, living and dining rooms and a kitchen that opens to a family room. Architectural details include vaulted beamed ceilings. There are a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
A maid's room/office is adjacent to the garage. The motorcourt can accommodate 10 cars.
A swimming pool, terraced gardens, mature trees and lawn complete the grounds.
Penn, 54, won his Oscars for "Milk" (2008) and "Mystic River" (2003). His large body of film work includes "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" (2013), "Dead Man Walking" (1995) and "The Falcon and the Snowman" (1985). His current film is "The Gunman."
The twice-married Penn is dating actress Charlize Theron. His ex-wives are singer Madonna and actress Robin Wright.
He bought the Malibu property in 2009 for $3.8 million.
