BRIEF: Seahawks apologize for ill-advised Martin Luther King Jr. Day tweet

Jan. 19--The Seattle Seahawks staged an amazing comeback against the Green Bay Packers to win the NFC championship game on Sunday.

Monday is the day we celebrate the life of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Someone with the Seahawks apparently decided that was enough of a connection between the two to tweet out a postgame photo of a very emotional Russell Wilson next to a quote from King, along with the civil rights slogan, "We shall overcome" as a caption.

Seahawks posted (then deleted) this MLK Day tweet. Equating the civil rights struggle with a football game? Good god. pic.twitter.com/sTOTthMTZy

The Seahawks have since apologized for the now-deleted tweet.

We apologize for poor judgment shown in a tweet sent earlier. We did not intend to compare football to the civil rights legacy of Dr. King.
