BRIEF: Screenwriter Bob Ellison lands a high-rise spot in Westwood

April 22--Screenwriter and producer Bob Ellison of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Dear John" fame has purchased a condo in Westwood for $1.7 million.

Found within the Mirabella high-rise, the southwest-facing unit has a formal entry, living and dining rooms, an updated kitchen and two bedrooms in about 2,300 square feet of open space. Appointments include hardwood flooring, built-ins and motorized shades.

Walls of floor-to-ceiling glass and a walk-out balcony take in cityscape and ocean views.

The building features 24-hour guest services, a private terrace, a pool and a gym.

The condo unit came on the market in March for $1.695 million, records show.

Ellison won an Emmy Award in 1977 as part of the writing team for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and was the co-creator of the show "Dear John." He has also worked on such TV comedies as "Cheers," "Caroline in the City," "Wings" and "Becker."

Jane Siegal of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent. Maureen McCormick of Partners Trust Brentwood represented Ellison in the sale.
