June 18--Lemont's Scott Darling auditioned for the part of backup goalie for the Blackhawks this season. But when he got the part, he never imagined his boyhood dream would bloom into reality.
He called brining the Stanley Cup around the city the last couple of days "amazing."
"It's pretty crazy for me just to have people know who I am," he said. "I walk around and they know I'm from here. They call me 'The Chicago Kid.'
"It's like a Disney movie. Couldn't have wrote it any better than it went this year. I'm grateful. I'm already excited for next year."
Darling was 3-1 and had a .936 save percentage and 2.21 goals-against average in five playoff appearances.
