Nov. 05--DePaul freshman Alexa Ben of Schaumburg has been named the Big East's soccer rookie of the year.
The 5-foot Ben and her team have both played big this fall.
Ben had nine goals and 10 assists as the No. 7 Blue Demons (15-0-3), picked for fourth in the Big East, won the first regular-season title in the program's history. That earned DePaul head coach Erin Chastain and her assistants the Big East coaching staff of the year honor.
After getting a first-round bye, DePaul meets Marquette in the Big East tournament semifinals Friday at St. John's.
