Strong starting pitching and a shaky bullpen Saturday recalled memories of so many losses for the White Sox last season. Jose Quintana had an impressive start before the A's rolled to a 10-4 victory at Camelback Ranch.
On the mound
Quintana gave up two first-inning runs (one earned), allowing six hits with five strikeouts on 86 pitches over six innings. Reliever Maikel Cleto was charged with six runs on four hits in one-third of an inning.
At the plate
The first hit for the White Sox came in the fifth on Gordon Beckham's popup that fell in front of the plate.
In the field
Second baseman Emilio Bonifacio made a diving stop and an off-balance throw to first to nail Stephen Vogt in the fourth inning.
