Nov. 16--Strong Santa Ana winds are expected to bring heightened fire danger in the mountains around Los Angeles early next week.
The National Weather Service issued a red flag fire warning for Sunday through Monday evening, noting that "strong north and northeast winds combined with warming temperatures and lowering humidity will bring critical fire weather conditions to portions of southwestern California."
Winds could reach 60 miles per hour in the mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties on Sunday, the weather service warned. Other areas, including the Santa Clarita Valley, Malibu to the West Hollywood Hills, the San Fernando Valley and valleys in Ventura County, could see gusts of 40 mph to 50 mph.
The winds are likely to bring downed power lines and trees, and hazards for high-profile vehicles, the weather service warned.
