Oct. 30--Authorities in San Francisco are taking stock of the raucous fan celebrations that turned violent Wednesday night after the Giants won Game 7 of the World Series.
The assessment as of early Thursday: Two men were shot, one was stabbed and several officers were assaulted, according to police.
San Francisco streets lighted up after the win over the Kansas City Royals as Giants fans started bonfires at King and 2nd streets and Mission and 19th streets.
Most of the flames were extinguished by firefighters and police officers. But as the celebrations continued throughout the night, the violence escalated, resulting in two gunshot victims and one man being stabbed several times, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Crowds also threw bottles and fireworks at officers.
Several arrests were made, but San Francisco police were not immediately able to provide the final tally early Thursday.
San Francisco's Municipal Transportation Agency also had to suspend service "due to safety concerns" after some revelers began jumping on buses, the agency wrote in a message posted on Facebook.
