April 07--A Sacramento mother has been arrested on suspicion of lighting her 7-year-old daughter on fire, police said.
Porche Wright, 27, is expected to appear in court Tuesday on attempted murder and child abuse charges of allegedly burning her young daughter, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Wright was arrested about 3:17 p.m. Saturday after a friend went to her home and noticed the girl had several burns, police said. She was taken to a hospital.
Police believed Wright sprayed a flammable liquid on her daughter and set her on fire.
The girl was being treated for severe injuries and was expected to survive, police said.
Wright's neighbor Mike Davis told Fox40 that Wright put gas on her daughter and used a match to light her on fire.
Other neighbors told the news station that she often yelled at the girl.
