Dec. 27--The Rose Parade will most likely stay dry for the ninth straight year, forecasters say.
The weather forecast for the coming week includes a slight chance of rain Tuesday night and Wednesday, but any rain is expected to be gone by Thursday, when thousands of people will line the streets of Pasadena for the 126th Rose Parade.
This year's parade theme is "Inspiring Stories."
It hasn't rained on New Year's Day in Pasadena since 2006, said Stuart Seto, a weather specialist at the National Weather Service in Oxnard.
Temperatures are likely to remain slightly colder than normal between now and the first day of 2015, according to the forecast. At sunrise Saturday, the thermometer read 39 degrees in Pasadena and downtown Los Angeles, the weather service said.
Winds are also expected to remain light -- a break from the gusty winds of the last few days.
The forecast is contingent on the path of a low-pressure system arriving from the northeast, Seto said.
If it moves west, we'll get more rain. If it moves east, we'll get more wind, he said.
