BRIEF: Ronda Rousey will star in 'Road House' remake

Sept. 09--UFC superstar Ronda Rousey continues to take Hollywood by storm, confirming Tuesday that she will have the lead role in MGM's upcoming remake of "Road House."

The 1989 original featured the late Patrick Swayze as a bouncer hired to bring order to a rowdy roadside bar in Missouri. Swayze's James Dalton was someone you wouldn't want to mess around with -- a description that more than fits Rousey in real life.

Just ask Cat Zingano. Or Bethe Correia. Or any of the undefeated Rousey's other UFC opponents.

Rousey promised that Swayze's fans will not be disappointed.

"It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many," Rousey tweeted Tuesday morning, along with a link to a Variety article announcing the role. "I couldn't be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze ... I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute to his family and [something] fans can be proud of."

Rousey already has appeared in "The Expendables 3," "Furious 7" and "Entourage." She is slated to star in several upcoming films, including the screen adaptation of her autobiography "My Fight/Your Fight."
