Dec. 24--NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the 32 teams Tuesday that the league will not be accepting relocation applications for teams interested in moving to Los Angeles in 2015.
In a memo to the chief executives and club presidents of all NFL teams, obtained by The Times, Goodell said the decision was due to "the significant number of uncertainties associated with an appropriate long-term stadium site."
"We intend to spend the next year focusing on stadium opportunities, both in current league cities and in Los Angeles, with the goal of identifying preferred stadium sites in Los Angeles and existing markets by the end of the year," Goodell wrote.
Goodell said the league office will continue to work with the ad hoc group of owners focused on the L.A. opportunity and will keep all clubs informed of developments.
The San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders are all on year-to-year stadium leases, unhappy with their current venues, and have been considering moves to the L.A. market.
