BRIEF: Robert Falls to be inducted into Theater Hall of Fame

Sept. 22--Robert Falls has been named a 2015 inductee into The Theater Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement in American Theater.

Falls has been artistic director of Goodman Theatre since 1986 and received the 1999 Best Direction of a Play Tony Award for his "Death of a Salesman" revival.

His next project at Goodman will be "2666," a 5-hour adaptation of Robert Bolano's novel. The globe-spanning story of a group of academics in search of a mysterious author will open in February. Falls will then reunite with playwright Rebecca Gilman to direct the small-town drama "Soups, Stews, and Casseroles: 1976," opening in May.

Other 2015 inductees include Tony Kushner, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, Julie Taymor, Stacy Keach, Ken Billington, Merle Debuskey and Roger Rees. All nominees must have 25 years of experience working in American theater with five major credits.

The ceremony will take place Nov. 16 at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City.
