BRIEF: Robbers use social media as ruse to hit victims in Albany Park

Dec. 03--Police are warning Northwest Side residents after three robberies last month in the Albany Park neighborhood, two of them arranged through social media.

In two of the robberies, two men robbed someone at gunpoint after arranging a meeting on social media to buy electronic equipment, police said in a statement.

In the third case, a gunman robbed a man entering the gangway of his apartment.

In all three robberies, a silver revolver was used, police said. The robberies occurred at the following locations:

--4400 block of North Hamlin Avenue about 12:20 a.m. on Nov. 18

--3800 block of West Montrose Avenue about 4:25 p.m. on Nov. 29

--3800 block of West Montrose Avenue about 9:10 p.m. on Nov. 30
